Abbie has a great deal of experience working with young children, adolescents, adults and families. Abbie draws from a wide variety of different therapeutic techniques, and creates an individually tailored experience that best supports your healing and growth. She’ll add a hint of playfulness and a touch of humor to therapy that will being some joy and pleasure to this process that can, at times, feel difficult.
Abbie has a Bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a Masters degree in Social Work, both from Colorado State University. While in college she worked at a before and after school enrichment program with children preschool aged through middle-school aged. After earning her undergraduate degree she worked a as counselor in a residential treatment facility with adolescents involved with the judicial system. Many of the adolescents were dealing with deep rooted trauma, family issues, suicidal ideation, drug and alcohol abuse, among other serious issues. Abbie then received her Master’s degree and has since then worked in community mental health doing play therapy with young children, individual therapy with adolescents, and family therapy. She’s just tickled to join our team of therapists here at Heart-Centered Counseling.
