Dr. Catherine O’Day has over 25 years of experience offering counseling and care to adults, couples, adolescents, families, and groups. When you first meet Catherine, you’ll immediately feel accepted and cared for. Catherine will meet you where you’re at, and gently guide you to new possibilities. She can help you achieve a better understanding of yourself, help you gain coping skills to manage the stressful times, and support you as you move toward a better life — inside and out.
Catherine will provide you with individualized opportunities to examine your concerns and explore solutions in a caring, open style. She’ll also add a splash of good humor.
Catherine’s Clinical Training and Experience
Catherine earned her PhD to follow through on her true passion: helping people improve the quality of their lives. Through her extensive education and trainings, Catherine has gained a wide range of skills and creative interventions to help people move from struggle to relief and success. Here are just a few examples: crisis intervention techniques, unconditional positive regard, anxiety mitigation, stress relief, affect regulation, mood enhancement, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (including DBT), and coping skill enhancements.
Catherine O’Day has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for almost twenty years in three states. Dr. O’Day earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of MT. She then moved to Seattle and practiced at various community mental health centers. A few years later, she earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of WA and worked as a medical social worker for many years. She was a director of an outpatient mental health center in Boston, MA. She also worked at Beth Israel Hospital as an outpatient therapist at the Behavioral Neurology Clinic. In time, she earned her Ph.D. in Social Work and Education at Colorado State University and was a professor at the University of MT. Dr. O’Day had a private practice in MT and worked at the Missoula County Detention Center for five years. She returned to Colorado to teach at CSU and is thrilled to a part of the Heart Centered Counseling team.
