Erik views therapy as a shared journey and a unique relationship. This relationship is geared toward helping you uncover and expand possibilities within your life, creating a freedom to pursue what’s most meaningful and significant to you.
Erik uses an existential and humanistic therapeutic approach to address your challenges. Specifically, you’ll first be heard and understood in your experiences and your current life-situations and struggles. You’ll be given the freedom to explore all of your life events, without jumping to explanations or forcing your problems to conform a counseling theory. As the work progresses, Erik will partner with you to help you work through your struggles and feel an expanded sense of self and a renewed sense of aliveness with yourself and those around you.
Erik has over ten years of clinical experience. He has previously worked at community mental health centers in Colorado, Kentucky, and Tennessee. During his doctoral clinical training in Chicago, Erik gained a broad range of clinical experience at a State of Illinois inpatient psychiatric hospital, an inpatient and outpatient substance abuse center, and a faith-based counseling center. He is a member of the Society of Humanistic Psychology (Division 32 of the American Psychological Association).
