“I’m a warm and compassionate listener with a great sense of humor,” Annie begins. “I love the process of getting to know each of my clients, and I’m often amazed at how – many times – that process alone can help them to re-connect with what’s RIGHT with them when the challenges they face may be keeping their focus on what seems “wrong.”
“Therapy with me is a collaborative experience,” Annie continues. “You bring your hopes, dreams, strengths, and challenges. I’ll bring my optimism, energy, experience, and creativity. Together we will actively participate in a process that will help you to discover and practice your own unique strategies for working through the difficulties you may be facing.”
Annie’s professional specialties include grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, coping with chronic and life-limiting illness, anticipatory grief, caregiver stress, end-of-life issues, and more.
Annie see clients from a holistic perspective. She draws from a variety of modalities, based on her clients’ needs and preferences, including: CBT, Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, Family Systems, Systemic Constellations, dreamwork, ACT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. She also enjoys offering interventions using art materials, writing, poetry, music, and nature experiences.
I have worked in the hospice field since 1995, holding positions as a Hospice Social Worker, Palliative Care Social Worker, and Grief Counselor. As a Hospice and Palliative Care Social Worker, I have provided counseling and support to people with life limiting and chronic illnesses and their families in their homes. As a Grief Counselor, I have provided individual and family grief counseling, facilitated grief support groups for children, parents, and adults, and provided training and clinical supervision for graduate students, volunteers, and other professionals. From 2014 to 2016, I worked for Mental Health Partners (Boulder). As a member of their Integrated Services Team, I provided psychotherapy at the offices of primary care physicians. During much of this time, I also worked in a part-time private psychotherapy practice.
