When you meet Heather, you’ll quickly experience her calming and peaceful presence. She’ll listen intently to your story so she understands you and your unique identity.
Heather believes your current struggles do not define who you can become. She’ll work with you to develop a positive direction, offering you concrete steps you can use to move forward outside of your sessions. She believes in your ability to create positive life changes, with tangible results, and will guide you in getting there.
Heather has extensive experience helping people explore, understand and overcome substance use and mental health concerns. If you are battling substance dependencies, she’ll support and encourage (and caringly challenge) you to change the thinking and behavioral patterns that keep you stuck in that cycle. If you’re struggling with mental health concerns, Heather will help you identify the underlying issues and traumas and work through these so that they no longer leak into the present.
Heather’s sessions are person centered and solution focused, and she’ll bring in elements from numerous modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Empowerment Theory, and Motivational Interviewing. She is an active listener and helps guide people to uncover their best solution.
Heather has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Colorado State University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addictions Counselor. She has extensive and varied clinical experience, having worked more than 17 years in the Behavioral Health Services field.
