Jay’s approach is empathic and action-oriented. He uses an active-directive approach to help you recover from your difficulties as quickly as possible, and to maintain those improvements over the long run.
Jay has been a therapist for over 30 years, in a wide variety of settings (inpatient, residential, intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient), with a broad range of clients (adults, older adults, children, and adolescents). For the last 15 years, Jay has worked with adults with a wide range of issues including mood (Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder) and anxiety disorders (Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, PTSD).
Jay specializes in the use of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), both evidence-based approaches to treating emotional and behavioral difficulties. Jay also trains other clinicians in the use of CBT.
