When you meet Jennifer, you can expect to be greeted by a warm and welcoming professional who will use empathy and humor to put you at ease balanced with a straightforwardness that will help yoube accountable to yourself and your goals. She’ll help you be empowered to cope with what life throws your way. She’ll help you gain insight into how your past experiences impact your present life, build awareness of your emotional and cognitive triggers, and learn and develop skills to manage your thoughts and feelings.

Some of the issues Jennifer can assist you in overcoming include feelings low self-worth or self-confidence; lack of identity or sense of self; relationship difficulties—whether they be family, romantic, or friendship; grief and loss; difficulty trusting yourself and others; fear; feeling that your mental health is out of control and/or unmanageable; and chronic feelings of suicide and/or self-harm. To do that, she may use active listening, psychoeducation, humor, and walking or moving during session; homework activities like writing assignments;and mindfulness exercises, such as guided meditations. She’ll use treatment modalities that seem right for you, such as EMDR, DBT, CBT, and SFBT.

Jennifer asks each of her clientsto identify where they want to go and what they want to get out of their treatment, while she provides information, directions, support, and feedback to ensure they arrive safely at their destination. She says, “It’s always about the client’s plan, not mine.”

With a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Denver, Jennifer has worked in community mental health and the field of addiction. Prior to becoming a licensed clinical social worker, she taught English as a second language abroad, worked as an au pair, and spent two years overseas as a Peace Corps volunteer.
