Lauren joined Heart-Centered Counseling in 2016 as a full-time psychotherapist, a decision primarily influenced by HCC’s culture of openness, inclusivity and compassion. Lauren became assistant director in 2018 and then assumed the role of director in 2019, joining the leadership team in navigating operations of HCC as a whole, being ever-mindful of staying true to the guiding principles of the group.
Her career began in her hometown of Houston where she secured a competitive post-graduate fellowship after graduating with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Houston with honors. Lauren went on to serve as the treatment coordinator for a renowned substance abuse treatment center, managing one of the leading intensive outpatient programs in the city.
Prior to becoming a “professional helper,” Lauren was deeply connected to a community organization whose primary role was to support those struggling with substance abuse. She went on to partner with a team to launch the community’s first support group for individuals struggling with substance abuse as well as co-occurring mental health issues.
Lauren is devoted to helping the clients of HCC build meaningful lives and to support the talented clinicians who are the heart and soul of the group. When not on the job, she can usually be found enjoying the outdoors with her husband and little boy.
