Mary is a woman fueled by her passion to help others. In her you will discover a therapist who radiates warmth, compassion, and acceptance. She provides a safe, comfortable space for you to share your story, learn new skills, and discover what is next for your life. A favorite quote hangs on her wall, “Right here. Right now. Everything is OK.” When you are with Mary, you feel it is so. Her family, friends, and clients agree, “She is a woman of integrity. A bit wild at heart. She inspires all of us to be stronger, to believe in ourselves, to speak the truth, to give our hearts, and to climb higher.”

As a highly successful therapist, author, and public speaker, Mary has been working for 20+ years with individuals, couples, and families facing issues including substance abuse, eating disorders, relationship issues, life transitions, grief and loss, and depression. “As a woman in long-term recovery, my journey includes great joy, as well as deep sorrow. My personal story, along with my professional training, provide wisdom and insight born out of experience. Although the details may be different, I once walked where my clients walk. I understand how difficult and scary it can be to ask for help. I truly value each individual’s journey and treat others with kindness and respect.’

Mary earned a Masters’ degree in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois at Springfield and has additional training in Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Substance Use Disorders, and Life Purpose Facilitation. “I believe in a person-centered, holistic approach to counseling – one that considers body, mind, and spirit – as each part can affect the whole. I am an active listener, a guide of sorts, as clients explore their stories and are empowered to discover and live their preferred life.”

After spending time with Mary, you will quickly learn she loves her family, good, strong coffee, anything turquoise, Native American art, the beach, and music. Another of her favorite quotes is Carpe Diem! (Seize the Day!) Mary truly lives that out – one day at a time!
