When you meet with Missy, you’ll feel safe, respected and free from judgement. You’ll feel comfortable to speak your truth and encouraged to be your authentic self. You’ll learn to overcome coping strategies that aren’t serving you well—responses and behaviors that keep you from living your best life.
Missy can help you address many issues, including anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy, fear, guilt, or shame. She’ll use active listening, reflection, and validation to highlight your resiliency and to empower you to feel motivated and confident to deal with life’s challenges. Her approach to therapy is warm and strengths based, and draws from solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques.
Having worked in a variety of medical settings, like primary care and specialty clinics, emergency rooms, and hospitals, Missy has experience connecting with a wide range of personalities and values the opportunity to build trust, rapport, and relationships with a variety of people. She graduated from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work with a Master of Social Work degree and certificate in Animal-Assisted Social Work. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Colby College.
