He’ll work side by side with you as you come to understand what stands in your way, and he’ll help guide you in using your inner strengths to overcome the obstacles. By building a caring therapeutic relationship with Michael, you’ll have found someone who’s in your corner, guiding you toward your vision of a happy and fulfilling life.
In his work, Michael incorporates a blend of active listening, goal setting, relaxation techniques, positive reinforcement, and education. He will approach you as an individual and work collaboratively on addressing goals that are important to you. His primary therapeutic modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Gottman couple’s therapy techniques.
Michael earned BA in Psychology from the College of Wooster as well as an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. He has worked for 8 years in a variety of settings such as residential, inpatient, and outpatient treatment facilities working with all ages and a variety of diagnoses from severe/persistent mental illness to substance use.
