Dr. Alexander Thompson is a Psychologist in Colorado who has been practicing since 2016. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from Nova Southeastern University in Florida after finishing his undergraduate studies at Drake University in Iowa as a student-athlete and coach. He completed an APA-approved internship at Suffolk University’s center for Counseling, Health, and Wellness. He also has previous experience working in the counseling center at Florida Atlantic University and community mental health. Dr. Thompson offers individual psychotherapy to young adults, adults, and those pursuing higher education. He enjoys joining clients in their journeys of self-growth and approaches therapy with warmth, acceptance, and respect to identity. In session, he is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy but integrates components of Interpersonal psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Relational-Cultural Theory, and mindfulness. Dr. Thompson also recognizes the importance of social justice in empowering clients and building a kinder overall community. He strives to assist clients pursue that which they find to be most meaningful in life, equipped with the resilience to accept and face challenges. Outside of work, Dr. Thompson is very passionate about enjoying nature, staying active, reading comic books, and spending time with his partner and their wonderful pup, Rosie.
