Dez can help clients with many mental health concerns, including anxiety, grief and loss, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relational-cultural issues. She has experience and familiarity working with individual children (10+), adolescents, and young adults, and uses psychoeducation, grounding techniques, gratitude activities, client strengths (and interests), and pop culture to facilitate growth. Her clients are taught empowering tools so they ca engage in session and be equipped out of session. Self-care and life balance are always prioritized.
Dez utilizes a variety of modalities in treatment, including Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Geek Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. At the base of each modality, is the intention of applying a person-centered and holistic approach tailored to suit each client’s therapy goals.
Dez received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from New Mexico State University. She’s provided care in various settings, including an inpatient hospital, nonprofit children’s clinic, and a private practice. Outside of work, Dez enjoys reading, spending time with her dogs, exercising, cheering for Steph Curry, and watching way too many movies and shows. She has healthy obsessions with Marvel, Star Wars, and Stranger Things.
