You'll feel positioned to engage in treatment when you enter into the empathic space that Adam provides. In his presence, you'll feel safe, heard, and hopeful. With his guidance, you'll discover and articulate your goals.
Adam helps patients manage and overcome depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse, personality disorders, and other mental illnesses. Recognizing the inherent limitations of these diagnostic categories, he's also committed to fully assessing each patient's needs with respect to indications for pharmacotherapy, as well as psychotherapeutic interventions. This process entails extensive patient education, empowerment, and collaboration.
In the role of a therapist, Adam uses cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, interpersonal, insight-oriented, mindfulness, and mentalization-based techniques, as necessary. As a prescribing physician, he subscribes to safe and effective pharmacotherapy, CBT, DBT, mindfulness and meditation, mentalization-based treatment, transference-focused approaches, and others.
Adam received a medical degree from the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in Hempstead, New York, and completed residency in psychiatry at the New York Medical College in Valhalla.
He engages in many pastimes, including hiking and naturalism, amateur astronomy, and woodworking. Adam also enjoys learning foreign languages and playing the piano. He says his curiosity about the world reflects his curiosity about the experiences of patients.
