When you meet with Heather, you’ll meet in a safe, judgment-free zone where there is no guilt, shame or lectures—just empathy and support. You’ll feel at ease, like you’re talking to an old friend who’s down to Earth and accepts you just the way you are. You’ll feel listened to, validated and cared about. You’ll find a partner who’ll educate and empower you to make your own best health care decisions.
Heather’s clients can overcome mental health difficulties such as depression and anxiety, which have been preventing them from living their best lives. The tool she likes to use most is humor, believing that there is so much power in laughter. While Heather is primarily responsible for medication management, she’s also trained in CBT, DBT, play therapy, and is certified to perform ECT.
Heather earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychobiology from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Master’s degree in molecular microbiology and immunology from Johns Hopkins University. She attended medical school at the University of California San Diego, completed her internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and her adult psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at UCLA. She has worked in nearly all types of practice settings, including inpatient care in a community hospital and outpatient clinics.
After years of winter trips to Colorado, Heather has moved to Boulder from Oahu and couldn't be more excited. In her free time she loves to stay active through going to the gym, cycling, hiking, skiing, and the high intensity workout of running after her triplets who truly seem to believe that they are ninjas. When she’s ready to wind down, she’ll grab a good book or veg out watching TV, usually something funny like Impractical Jokers.
