When you meet with Heather, you'll feel cared for and understood, not judged. With her guidance, you'll learn that who you are is acceptable. She'll help you change negative behaviors, not change who you are as a person. She'll provide you with tools to be the best version of yourself.
Heather works with individuals, couples, and families with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, low self-esteem, lack of trust, and social and communication skills challenges. She uses techniques such as active listening, reflective listening, and motivational interviewing to develop a connection and therapeutic relationship, and a combination of modalities, like CBT, DBT, Play Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and Biofeedback. When appropriate and if requested by a client, Heather will provide counseling from a Christian perspective.
With a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Heather has experience working as a child and family therapist and neurofeedback specialist with clients of all ages and backgrounds, including First Responders. Heather also is the author of "Where's My Hair? A Trichotillomania Story for Children," written for children with Trichotillomania, their families, friends, therapists, doctors, teachers, and others to help them better understand the disorder.
