About James “Ken” Whitney, LCSW

Ken is client centered in his therapeutic approach, and enjoys being responsive, interactive and offering kind and thoughtful feedback during his sessions. He focuses his attention on who you are and what you wish to achieve. Ken’s goal is to support and educate you, so you can recognize and fulfill your potential to live a full life without resorting to negative and destructive defenses and behaviors. Ken works with both individuals and couples. Ken’s individual therapy helps people struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar depression, adjustment disorders, and more. He works with adults (18 and older) and specializes in using Eye Movement, Desensitization, and Reprocessing (EMDR). Ken is also skilled in providing couples and marital counseling. As a basis for this work, he utilizes Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Neurodynamic Couples Therapy. Ken has is widely trained and multi skilled in his work. He will utilize the approach that best fits where you are, and more importantly, who you want to become. To accomplish this he will lean on Cognitive Theory/ Techniques, Psychodynamic Theory/Practice, Attachment Theory, and Mindfulness.
