When you meet with James you’ll feel safe and comfortable in the space he provides. You’ll experience caring, empathy, and acceptance regardless of where you’re at in the moment. You’ll enjoy humor when appropriate which will help you feel at ease.
James’ clients can overcome relational issues by learning healthy communication skills like active listening, and how to cope with stressors through deep breathing, meditation, and reframing negative emotions. They also can come to understand their mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. He utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, and some elements of DBT, including mindfulness practices and radical acceptance.
James earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University Chico. He’s worked with diverse populations, including those struggling with dual diagnosis (addiction and mental health) in private practice settings, PHP and IOP programs, and a methadone clinic.
Originally from Indiana, James served seven years in the Air Force. He’s lived in Colorado since 2019 and loves to sing, travel, and be outdoors.
