When you meet with Joel, you'll feel welcomed and at ease as he offers you a gentle listening ear. You'll also feel challenged to view your struggles in a new way without fear of judgement and encouraged to make changes with his caring support.
Joel helps clients to overcome a range of issues—from a trauma informed perspective if need be—like depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, boundary setting, mood disorders and disregulation, post-traumatic stress disorder, family dysfunction, sexuality, identity issues and confusion, adolescent and developmental concerns, and many other behavioral complications and stresses. The tools his clients receive and learn include active listening, behavioral and relaxation techniques, and other various coping techniques specifically tailored for their needs. Joel works from a combination of psycho-dynamic, behavioral, person-centered, narrative, and trauma-informed lenses. He can employ CBT, DBT, EFT, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals.
Joel received a Master's degree from Colorado Christian University and a Bachelor's degree from Colorado State University. His studies focused on the unique intersection of biology and psychology as an aid in understanding traumatic brain injuries and other biologically based illnesses. Joel has worked in a residential setting with immensely traumatized at-risk youth with multiple coexisting disorders or complicated family dynamics and histories. He also has experience providing outpatient clinical services to couples and individuals ranging from 5 to 60+ years of age.
