Katie can help her clients to overcome the feelings of being stuck—whether it's feeling stuck in past trauma, buried in present turmoil, or riddled with anxiety and worry over what hasn't yet happened. She utilizes active listening and empathic attunement as agents of change. She’s also a very solution-focused and practical therapist who operates from a person-centered approach that includes elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques. When working with children and families, she uses play therapy techniques coupled with attachment therapy.
Katie holds a Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. She’s worked with children and their families in a variety of settings, such as domestic violence shelters and home-based services for at-risk youth. She’s also worked with children on the autism spectrum. She’s worked with adults from 18-65 in private practice setting, as well as community mental health clinics.
