Many of Laura’s clients say she makes them feel very comfortable and easy to open up to in session. It’s probably because Laura uses a relational approach, taking time to get to know her clients and always striving to inspire hope. She believes your thoughts matter and things can get better. While her psychiatric role includes medical interventions, she also believes laughter is a good medicine so you can expect a bit of humor to help with the healing process.
In addition to being an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with a license to prescribe medicine, Laura is highly skilled in caring for her clients because she also holds a Master’s degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Counseling.
Laura is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) strategies for interpersonal difficulties as well as other modalities including person-centered and existential therapy. Additionally, her natural curiosity keeps her engaged in industry readings and podcasts for things like mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, and supplements.
Since 2006, Laura has worked in several types of mental health settings such as outpatient, community mental health, inpatient, and more. She loves meeting new people and looks forward to meeting you.
