When you enter Maria’s office, you’ll be in a safe, non-judgmental and trusting space where you’ll be treated with respect and dignity. While there, Maria will give you tools to use to build the life you envision for yourself, one where you achieve success in your personal and professional life. She’ll help you overcome feelings of non-acceptance and set appropriate boundaries in your relationships. You’ll learn to turn maladaptive coping skills into healthy coping skills and to overcome the anxiety that often paralyzes your actions. Maria uses a person-centered, interactive approach to therapy focused on client strengths to gain insight and self-understanding. She also uses techniques such as CBT, EMDR and DBT, choosing what’s best for each individual because “there is no cookie cutter approach to therapy.” With a Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in Direct Practice, Maria has been a practicing mental health professional for 23 years. She’s worked with a variety of populations including veterans, active duty military members and reservists; and adolescents and adults involved with the criminal justice system and in intensive in-patient, out-patient and residential treatment. Her specialty areas include chemical dependency and sexual assault.
