Clients who work with Michael can expect to identify and overcome many of the patterns and perceptions in their lives that have been holding them back and causing unpleasant symptoms like anxiety and depression. His clients can come to understand how their perceptions, nervous systems, and thought lives were wired when they were younger, and then learn how to re-wire and create the new healthy feelings, perceptions and patterns.
Some of the tools Michael uses are active listening and mindfulness. Treatment modalities he draws from include Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. He combines these approaches into an eclectic and personalized plan to meet each of his clients where they're at.
Michael earned a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. He's has experience working in private practice with adults, teens and families suffering from a wide range of symptoms. He also can offer counseling from a Christian perspective, yet honors each of his clients regardless of their spiritual beliefs.
