About Roxanne Hotchkiss, LCSW

Sometimes the strongest individual, couple, or family may need extra support to deal with life circumstances and changes. My sessions provide a safe, caring and confidential environment where feelings, beliefs and behaviors can be explored and transformed. As a passionate advocate, and natural problem solver, I’ll help you to gain the understanding and experience needed to promote change, healing, growth, harmony and peace in your life and the world around you. By helping empower you through challenges, I’ll help you create dynamic, positive change in your life. I’ll employ a holistic approach, enabling you to address core issues, and affect positive healing. In addition to common therapy approaches, my integrative wellness techniques may also include art therapy, music therapy, mindfulness, and body-mind integration. I have been fortunate to work with individuals, couples, families and children for over 25 years in a myriad of settings, including in private practice, group settings, wellness centers, public schools as well as crisis centers. My current clients describe me as calm, confident, open-minded, encouraging and life-changing. About my Couples Counseling: Couples attend sessions with me to improve communication, resolve personal conflicts gain an education on the stages of a relationship, break through old patterns and build positive habits. Some types of issues that a couple may seek help with are: parenting, grieving, depression and/or anxiety, LGBTQ issues, domestic violence, infertility, marital conflict and substance abuse. I have a strong sense of compassion and commitment for helping people gain the necessary qualities for a successful relationship. Using a “wellness” model as opposed to an “illness” one highlights and encourages my couple’s strengths. About my Individual Counseling: Clients may seek therapy to work through challenging memories or experiences, set personal goals to promote desired change, cope with major life changes, improve parenting skills and/or family relations, cope with mental health issues, childhood trauma or to greater their self-knowledge. I’m well versed in helping you through common struggles with anxiety, gender identity, addiction and depression, as well as any other challenges you are currently facing. We’ll develop a collaborative relationship in which we decide together what kind of treatment would be best for you. About my Family Counseling: When working with families, I usually start with the homeostasis of the family unit. We first ask the question, “What does the family unit look like when things are going well?” Often symptoms emerge in a family or even with just one member that can alter the ability of the family’s tendency to maintain internal stability. Family therapy is usually short-term and involves those family members who are willing to participate. Family therapy can teach you skills to deepen family connections and get through stressful times.
