Provider type: Therapist
Serving: Adolescent (Ages 14+), Adult, Families, Groups
Tamara invites you into a safe nonjudgmental environment where you'll experience kindness, and compassion. She'll accept and validate you for who you are. She'll inspire you to view life struggles as opportunities to grow rather than seeing them as personal deficits. She'll provide you with an opportunity to discover your unique strengths and talents, and to find meaning in the most difficult aspects of your life.
Tamara partners with clients to learn how to cope with overwhelming feelings associated with many issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, childhood abuse, and PTSD. Using talk therapy and active listening, she helps clients process what's going on in their life. Tamara also utilizes guided visualization, mindfulness practices, EFT tapping, dreamwork, journaling, mental bank, and meditation. Some modalities she draws from are person-centered therapy, CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, and transpersonal therapy. (The latter is a great fit for clients who want to add deeper meaning and purpose to their lives. It integrates traditional spiritual rituals into modern psychology, and emphasizes positive influences and role models rather than concentrating on negative experiences.)
With a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Denver, Tamara has experience working with individuals, children, youth, and families identified by human services and the criminal justice system as "at risk" of substance abuse, abuse and neglect, and committing crimes. She says, "people who've survived a difficult past and made mistakes are among the most compassionate and resistant people I've ever met."
